New Zealand Army officer John Flanagan was Program Manager of the Mine Action Co- ordination Center, the international group which achieved spectacular success in clearing all known minefields and cluster bomb areas from war-torn Kosovo by the end of last year.

CALM is a member of ICBL, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines which was co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in December 1997.
